The Highway to Hell Halloween light show… hoping they had a lot of candy on hand.

As we’ve done a while now every 1st of the month… the latest footage of Apple Campus 2 from Matthew Roberts.

‘The Economist’ issues a myopic defense of the white-collar criminal… What a bunch of clueless weasels these people are. Always lecturing the poor for wanting a free lunch, when they’re the ones begging for a free ride.

The Chicago Cubs have been one of the primary passions of my life for 40+ years now… to say their taking of the World Series means a lot to me would be an understatement… down 3-1 in the Series they battled back winning Game 5 in Chicago before taking Game 6 back in Cleveland to force a Game 7… and what a Game 7 it was, one for the ages that finished 8-7 in 10 innings. Ben Zobrist grabs the MVP honors… the documentation of this accomplishment I’ll cover in stand-alone post(s), but for now… just a few quick links… Paul Sullivan for the Chicago Tribune… David Haugh, also for the Tribune… Bradford Doolittle and David Purdum for ESPN… along with an Associated Press piece on the fan celebration…

Some heart-moving reporting from Wright Thompson for ESPN the Magazine that has a look at the periphery of the Cubs Championship run…

In Terry Francona’s Indians… the Cubs were blessed to run into the most formidable of opponents… they left it all on the diamond

Some great writing on the end of the curse from Jayson Stark for ESPN.

A really nice chronology of the winning of a World Championship by the Chicago Cubs in the Chicago Tribune with contributions from Kyle Bentle, Jonathon Berlin, Kori Rumore, Mike Sansone and Chad Yoder.

The Chicago Cubs World Series celebration plays out and ends up the 7th largest gathering in world history… what a day it was.

Read the Chicago Tribune’s front page story from Cubs’ World Series win in 1908.

Maybe putting the cart before the horse a bit… but how good does 3-1 odds to repeat next year feel Cubs fans?

“Hackers get wind of this well-meaning but terribly lazy arrangement. Using standard Linux dissection tools, they browse the embedded software module and find the backdoor password…which they can use to unlock all of the IoT devices from the offending maker.” It could be that the ‘Internet of Things’ is about to cause more trouble than it may be worth… some truth to power from Jean-Louis Gassée.

This article in Macworld truly gets at an issue I’ve shared with legions for a while now… which is Apple’s very real deprioritization of the Mac line of computers that must remain the life blood of the company… yeah, we’ve got some new Macbooks now… but what about the iMac, Mac Pro and the suite of professional software products so long a stalwart of the Apple community?
