Let’s start this week with some really great news… Apple has ended its silence on the topic of the Mac Pro and the pro-level iMacs… the community that rely’s on powerful desktop systems in order to accomplish their work, it was truly starting to feel as though Apple had forgotten about us. The Mac Pro hasn’t seen an update, or a price change for that matter in 3 years. Inherent to this discussion I should also note is Mac Pro Software… without the higher-end hardware, Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro don’t stand a chance, so that’s just another layer on why it’s very encouraging to hear Apple letting out some information on what their plans are. Long story short, the current Mac Pro had its specs bumped a bit to tide over while waiting for a re-designed Mac Pro at some point in 2018-19… new iMac’s will release THIS year with a version targeted at pro users. And finally, Apple branded displays are back on the drawing boards. To give you the low down, let me link to John Gruber who was one of five writers to get an audience with Apple top shot callers on the subject.

One of the world’s most notorious spammers appears to have been tripped up by a basic cybersecurity no-no, according to the FBI, he used the same log-in credentials to both run his criminal enterprise and also log into sites like iTunes.

John Warren Geils Jr., the artist known professionally as J. Geils who gave his name to the 1980s rock group he founded, was found dead in his Groton, Mass. home Tuesday. He was 71.

Charlie Murphy, the former Chappelle’s Show star and Eddie Murphy’s older brother, has died. He was 57.

The Cubs received their 2016 World Series rings in a pregame ceremony Wednesday as commissioner Rob Manfred watched from home plate. The rings contain 214 diamonds at 5.5 karats, 3 karats of genuine red rubies and 2.5 karats of genuine sapphires.

“The aim is always to penetrate the upper echelons of the charts, which, although no mean feat, isn’t really a fast-track route to pop stardom. For many, it ends up being a dispiriting anti-climax – a once-achieved high watermark, because many of them will never reach those same peaks again.”

“Bose Corp spies on its wireless headphone customers by using an app that tracks the music, podcasts and other audio they listen to, and violates their privacy rights by selling the information without permission, a lawsuit charged.” The lawsuit probably ends up revealing that the plaintiff (digitally) signed-off on this… but definitely not a flattering light being shone on Bose.

“This is not the war on terror but the inhuman and most brutal misuse of our country as a testing ground for new and dangerous weapons,” former Afghan President Hamid Karzai wrote in a series of tweets… I await how this all plays out with trepidation… imagine how you’d feel if some foreign asshole was dropping 21,000 lb. bombs on your neighborhood.
