“Passengers were indeed draped in their finery in the ballroom, yet the captain’s chair at the captain’s table was conspicuously vacant. He had somewhat suddenly felt unwell. And atop the typical worries lurking outside were two near-hurricane-force storms, one approaching from the north and another from the south. The agitated sea and gusty winds were beginning to cause some sway in the decks, putting already-eaten entrées in danger of unscheduled egress. The surly weather was bound to be a considerable distraction.”

An interesting tale from the evening before the Great Depression titled ‘The Derelict’ by Alan Bellows

The onetime competitor to Mad Magazine has reinvented itself as a Web site for all things funny. Cracked has an array of amusing lists, stories, and videos that’ll keep you laughing for days.

Indulge your inner Springer with a visit to Passive-Aggressive Notes, where you can take a long, leisurely inside look at other people’s petty, infantile squabbles, all laced with not-so-subtle passive-aggressive undertones and innuendo.

And last, an old favorite to complete today’s trilogy… Awkward Family Photos… what else needs to be said?

Befunky. A photography site for the common man… Tutorials, inspiration along with an online editing tool… I lost about an hour here and plan to return soon… have a look.

This site has been going for a while now, a couple books to its name as well… its curators describe it as an ongoing public art project… users send in postcards that describe their innermost thoughts and feeling. Post Secret.

Keyboardist and composer Bernie Worrell, who helped shape the sound of the band Parliament-Funkadelic, Talking Heads and influenced countless artists across a wide range of genres, died today at 72. A great influence and even greater loss… the afterworld has gotten a whole lot funkier.
